    Job Summary

    The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining job cost subsidiary records, processing, reconciliation and overseeing general accounting of multiple entities and assigned projects. Additionally, the Staff Accountant will assist the Chief Accounting Officer and other team members with construction loan financing requests, month-end closing preparation and reporting. This position will work closely and provide support to development and construction team members.

    Essential Functions of the Job

    General Accounting

    Assist Chief Accounting Officer with month-end closing preparation, reporting and construction financing requests.

    Perform accounts payable preparation and processing with knowledge and reconciliation of subsidiary ledgers.

    Perform cash disbursement functions and support accounts payable administrators.

    Processing cash receipts and daily preparation of bank deposits.

    Proficiency of general ledger and assist with general journal transactions.

    Preparation of related party and intercompany transactions.

    Preparing job cost reconciliation and research of variances.

    Assistance with consolidation of development and hotel operation books and records.

    Assist with work paper preparation, audits and miscellaneous matters.

    Compliance

    Ensures proper lien waiver procedures are adhered to.

    Confirms compliance with sales tax processing and applicable state laws.

    Performs multi-state sales tax research.

    Maintains integrity of projects by reviewing and improving internal controls & procedures.

    Communication

    Communicates and provides support to construction and development team members.

    Discuss budget and commitment variances with development and construction team members.

    Other

    Construction industry knowledge with emphasis on but not limited to contract, purchase order and job cost processing.

    Assist others as needed and special projects as assigned.

    Authority and Supervisory Qualifications:

    This position reports to the Chief Accounting Officer, Commercial Real Estate Development, and serves at the discretion of the Chief Financial Officer or delegate. The position carries out responsibilities in line with the established policies and statutes in consultation with the CAO - Commercial Real Estate Development. Executes authority within the Delegation of Authority. Responsible for processing, reporting and providing support for accounting related items.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field requirement. Minimum of 2 years’ experience with general accounting, construction loan financing and reconciliation.

    Chief Accounting Officer, Commercial Real Estate Development

    CFO, VP of Design and Construction, Chief Accounting Officer-WWH, Functional Leaders of departments and entities.

    Physical Demands:
