  • Responsibilities

    The HR Generalist is responsible for administering all human resource functions for Widewaters Group. This position will mainly focus on administration of employer relations, benefits, unemployment, FMLA, WC, DBL, and training for the Widewaters Hotels portfolio. The HR Generalist will effectively partner with hotel property General Managers, property HR Managers, and Regional VP’s to develop and ensure policies are effectively executed.

    What you will be doing

    Attend weekly or bi weekly phone calls with GM & HR Managers to evaluate potential disciplinary issues, recruitment needs, status updates, and procedural questions. Take notes of meeting minutes in absence of HR Director.

    Responsible for advising hotel managers on FLSA requirements and wage & hour laws to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local laws.

    Remain current in multiple states with changes in Human Resource and employment laws with state and local regulatory agencies, such as State Departments of Labor, Employment Security, Health, Unemployment, Workers’ Compensation, etc.

    Responsible for compiling OSHA logs and training properties on proper completion.

    Writes & updates HR SOP’s on HRIS & administrative tasks and functions.

    Assists Director of HR with tracking, monitoring and gathering HR statistics specific to their responsibilities.

    Attends weekly HR meetings with corporate team on a regular basis.

    Responds to HR distribution emails specific to their assigned properties and enters information in HRIS system as needed for benefits, leaves, terminations, or status changes.

    Works with payroll department and properties to ensure data entry changes are current and accurate.

    Completes promotion or status change letters as needed.

    Conducts exit interviews for executive committee members as needed.

    Assists GMs and HR Managers with interpretation of employee handbook.

    Training & Development

    Educates properties and managers on benefits.

    Provide education and training to new GM’s & Managers training on organizational training as needed.

    Assists in organizational training and development efforts.

    Trains new GM’s or HR Managers on orientation process and updates orientation process as requested by Corporate HR Director or as changes are needed.

    Train hotel managers on Corporate HR & hotel procedures for each location.

    Employee Relations

    Assists managers writing Performance Reviews, answering questions and provides guidance also follows up with properties to ensure they are prepared in a timely fashion.

    Serves as an internal consultant to managers and advisor/mediator in employee situations in which disciplinary actions or performance improvement is necessary.

    Give guidance to managers on procedures for conflict resolution for employee discipline issues.

    Advises and assists management on terminations and seeks approval of HR Director prior to having property administer.

    May conduct employee terminations at senior corporate management request, and/or act as company representative at such.

    Ensures that all employees and managers are trained on sexual harassment and discrimination and comply with Company policies.

    Assists and handles employee communication with diplomacy and confidentiality. May provide guidance or interpretation on Company policies and counseling on work-related issues.

    Assists in reviewing and or drafting warning notices or Performance Improvement Plans.

    Unemployment

    Analyzes and monitors claims on quarterly and monthly basis.

    Reports and tracks unemployment information to NEC for processing while being proactive with disciplinary documentation to protest charges.

    Completes all unemployment claims and compiles all supporting documentation to send Team 21.

    Participates in Unemployment hearings as needed.

    Leave Management:

    Audits status reports weekly and address properties if an associate has not been paid to inquire if they are on a leave status.

    Places associates on leave for FMLA, WC, DBL and processes leave paperwork and claims accordingly.

    Benefits:

    Enrolls associates in ADP HRIS and appropriate benefit carriers.

    Collects arrears as necessary.

    Assists with the open enrollment process.

    Sends properties benefits statements to ensure accuracy of enrollment.

    Corrects any discrepancies found in monthly benefit audit report.

    Follows up with properties on outstanding enrollments.

    Requirements

    Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Preferred.

    3-5 years of HR experience

    PHR, SPHR certification preferred.

    Knowledge of ADP HRIS systems preferred.

    Prior working knowledge in a hospitality setting also preferred.
