    Required Skills

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

    • Assist in the general administration of the program including those activities related to the recruitment, selection, instruction, supervision, counseling, evaluation, and advancement of residents, as well as the maintenance of records related to program accreditation; these activities include:
      • Active involvement in Milestones guided Competency Assessment and Evaluation of house staff
      • Direct involvement in semi-annual and annual evaluations of house staff as directed by program director and ensure evaluations are completed in a timely, semiannual manner
      • Participate in clinical competency meetings.
      • Review evaluations of residents
      • Ensure procedural competencies are completed
      • Participate in curriculum development, didactic, small group and program workshop learning exercises
      • Actively participate in IEP for residents with challenges outside of normal training path
      • mentor a number of interns as requested by Program Director and oversee the portfolios of these mentees
      • Help monitor and address resident stress and fatigue and advise the program director as necessary
      • Participate in annual program review and contribute to the constructive programmatic annual plan of improvement resulting from this evaluation and annual program review
      • Participate in faculty development
      • Participate in scholarly activities as it relates to care delivery and performance and programmatic improvement
      • Actively participate in the recruitment process review of candidates, interviews and selection of residents. When asked, attend recruitment fairs to recruit locally, regionally and nationally.
      • Be actively involved in the supervision and teaching of house staff physicians
        • Participate in academic societies, specifically the STFM/AAIIM, in order to enhance educational and administrative skills for a career in academic FM/IM
        • Participate in orientation and graduation ceremony for house staff
        • Participate in monthly resident faculty meetings
        • Actively participate in weekly faculty meetings
        • Serve as Preceptor to residents in clinic setting
        • Be present in clinic forty (40) hours per week, this includes 32 hours of patient care and eight (8) hour administrative time per week in Wright Center clinics and/or partner clinics. Clinic hours will also include home visits.
        • One night of call during week. Weekend call based on faculty/weekend ratio.
        • Participation in holiday rotation
        • Actively participate in preparation and maintenance of ACGME and AOA FM/IM Program accreditation.
        • Model and promote physician professionalism
        • Timely completion of Patient Care documentation in the Out-Patient and In-Patient settings and required resident evaluations and direct observation assessments as assigned

    OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Experience

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

     

    • MD/DO Degree
    • Be licensed to practice medicine in the state of Pennsylvania
    • DEA Certification
    • Current certification by the ABFM/AOBFP, or ABIM/AOBIM or possess qualifications acceptable to the Review Committee
    • Current BLS certification
    • Meet professional standards of ethical behavior
    • Must be an institutionally-based faculty appointee
    • Must have documented clinical and academic experience
    • Experience in the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS) a plus
    • Experience supervising administrative and support personnel
    • Ability to communicate effectively and with all levels within the organization
