    The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of over 200 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.

     

    JOB SUMMARY

     

    CSIS seeks highly motivated candidates for a full-time, six-month internship to support Center-wide research efforts that relate to imagery analysis. Research support will span most of the regions and topics covered at CSIS, with 50% of the intern’s time being devoted to supporting the Korea Chair. Candidates should be motivated, detail-oriented, self-starters who enjoy a wide variety of analytic tasks and possess excellent research skills. The successful candidate will have an aptitude for collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team and also have a strong ability to balance competing priorities, anticipate needs, and multi-task in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while meeting tight deadlines.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Interns have substantive responsibilities. Essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Provide research support as needed, including primary source research. • Compile research briefs and literature reviews. • Monitor and identify satellite imagery for ongoing and new research projects. • Assist with imagery markups per established styles and requirements. • Provide some administrative support, including tracking imagery purchases in established system. • Support coordination between programs and Senior Imagery Analyst.

     

    KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

    • B.A. in a relevant field (satellite imagery analysis and/or geospatial analysis experience not required but a plus); • Demonstrated and excellent research skills; • Excellent written and oral communication skills; • Korean language proficiency a plus; • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, including effectively presenting information, operating in a fast-paced environment, and managing competing priorities; • Strong attention to detail, initiative, and follow through skills; • Zest for challenging assignments that demand creativity; • Strong demonstrated interest in international affairs; • Must be able to work in the United States.

    Required Skills Required Experience

  • Qualifications
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing/chemical processing environment.
    • Prior paint manufacturing experience is preferred but not required.
    • Good written and verbal communications skills.
    • Ability to work well with other peer groups.
    • Knowledge of industrial safety regulations.
