About: The Historic Hemet Theatre is a premier live music venue located in the heart of Hemet’s Downtown District. Job Summary: The General Manager supports the organization’s relations and fundraising event activities working closely with donors, sponsors, employees, volunteers, and patrons as well as the Board of Directors, coordinates the planning and implementation of all venue events and activities for the Historic Hemet Theater, and strategic plan set forth by the Board of Directors.
Job Responsibilities:
Coordinates and manages front-of-house logistics for performances, rentals, and all other theater events.
Attends all live and special events, working with live event production and staff and volunteers.
Acts as liaison for theater members and patrons on all house management issues and concerns.
Reviews and develops all contracts with agents, performers and any other contractor.
Communicates and coordinates with event and/or performance staff regarding any changes, start times, ADA needs, and other relevant information to conduct seamless operations.
Oversees and monitors facility and production equipment such as digital projection, HVAC system, fire alarm system, audio systems, lighting systems, accessibility systems, and others.
Maintains the theater’s good standing regarding matters such as accessibility requirements, licenses and permits.
Ensures that all marketing promotions and displays including website and social media information are current and up to date.
Develops and maintains relationships with individual and institutional donors and sponsors and prospective donors and sponsors
Oversee operational maintenance, repairs, and renovations of theatre, equipment and property.
Supervises the daily responsibilities of theatre employees, contractors and volunteers and follows through to ensure tasks are complete and meet company standards, policies, and procedures.
Responsible for interviewing, selecting, training, mentoring, counseling, and overall employee and volunteer performance, following documentation procedures.
Ensures the safety, security, cleanliness, maintenance and organization of the theatre.
Directly oversees all areas of theatre operations such as auditing, concessions, bar, facilities, marketing, fundraising, human resources, payroll, and projection/presentation.
Develop a strategic plan for the Theatre with the Board of Directors to include capital improvements, sponsorships, planned giving, and performances.
Schedule and Compensation: This is a full-time exempt position that requires weekends and evenings. The selected candidate must be available to work on all scheduled shows, including rehearsals and remaining hours will be spent maintaining the theatre.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
At least 3 years of experience with special event planning, hospitality management, or in a comparable business operation.
Preferred experience in planned giving, non-profits, community outreach, finance, grants, and board operations.
Preferred experience wtih entertainment, facility management, sound and or audio technology,
Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Hospitality Management.
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and in written)
Experience building professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to use initiative, multi-task and prioritize your own workload with good attention to detail.
Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines whilst working with conflicting demands.
