Summary: The janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of entire theatre under management direction. Knowledge or willingness to learn proper cleaning techniques is essential. The janitor is generally responsible for the overall cleanliness of the theatre at opening each day.
Primary Responsibilities:
Service, clean, and supply restrooms with appropriate cleaning solutions
Vacuuming, and sweeping of carpeted areas; mopping of all hard surface areas
Empty all garbage receptacles and clean out these receptacles
Replace air freshener cartridges and urinal blocks as needed
Pick up large trash items and sweep up all small debris
Wipe down seat backs on a rotational basis
Remove gum and any other sticky matter
Keep dumpster area neat and orderly; dumpster lid and surrounding gates should be closed (locked if required)
Maintain janitorial closets in a clean, organized and safe manner
Maintain janitorial equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Stay in constant communication with management at all times regarding shortages on supplies and questions.
Other routine maintenance duties as assigned
Notify management of any potential safety hazards
Requirements KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as; operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions with good communication and interpersonal skills, in addition to good client/customer service skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Ability to work effectively with a team.
Must be able to work independently as needed to support the group effort.
Basic knowledge of cleaning products or willing to learn, knowledge of vacuuming, sweeping, mopping and scrubbing.
WORKING CONDITIONS The work for this position is performed inside the movie theatre, sometimes around theatre customers and other employees. The position requires routine walking, standing, bending, twisting and carrying items weighing less than fifty pounds. The employee must be aware that chemicals are often used in this position. This position requires availability early mornings and/or late nights, weekends and holidays, and be willing to work alone.
