Job Description: Speech Language Pathologist - Skilled Nursing Facility - New York
Part Time, Per Diem, PRN
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at a Skilled Nursing Facility located in New York. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and providing therapy for patients with communication and swallowing disorders.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate patients' speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, and swallowing abilities
- Develop personalized treatment plans based on the evaluation results and patients' individual needs
- Provide individualized therapy sessions to enhance communication and swallowing skills
- Utilize various therapeutic techniques and tools to improve patients' speech and language skills
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and physical therapists, to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Monitor and document patients' progress during therapy sessions, adjusting treatment plans as necessary
- Educate patients and their families on speech and language disorders, as well as strategies to improve communication and swallowing abilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards and facility policies
- Stay abreast of advancements in speech language pathology techniques and technologies through professional development activities
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of facility-wide strategies and programs
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution
- Valid state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist in New York
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred
- Prior experience working in a Skilled Nursing Facility or with geriatric populations preferred
- Strong knowledge of speech and language disorders, dysphagia, and therapy techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Proficient in using assessment tools, software, and equipment related to speech language pathology
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and compassion when working with patients
- Understanding of and commitment to following facility policies and procedures, including ethical guidelines and confidentiality protocols
