ROLE SYNOPSIS

Thiess is seeking a Fuel and Lube Technician (site) to support our mining team on our Project site near Denver, Colorado. The Fuel and Lube Technician will be responsible for safely fueling and greasing Mining shovels, loaders, dozers, graders, haul truck and water truck.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Grease and maintain heavy earthmoving equipment
• Refuel Heavy Equipment
• Clean and replace parts as necessary
• Follow lubrication and fuel schedule Maintain knowledge of environmental and safety regulations with regard to handling and disposal of fuel/oil as well as mechanical equipment

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

• Demonstrated ability to achieve results within a team environment with minimal supervision at times. 
• Good oral and written communication skills 
• High level of attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills 
• The ability to work in a team environment  
• Mining or heavy industrial construction experience considered an asset
• Ability and willingness to work different schedule on site based on project needs

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Post-high school training in a related area

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND JOB REQUIREMENTS

• 5 or more years of experience in mining, or related industry
• Ability to perform preventative maintenance (oil changes, etc.)
• Experience servicing heavy earthmoving mining / construction equipment including, excavator, loader, haul truck, grader, water truck and small equipment
• Technical expertise: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
• Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations
• Listens and seeks confirmation of understanding
• Effectively responds well to questions
• Authorization to work lawfully in USA without sponsorship from Thiess is required
• Fluent in the English language

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Able to lift 50 pounds
• Able to live and work at high altitudes (12,000 ft. elevation) for a week at a time
• Able to work in extreme winter conditions with temperatures regularly below zero degrees Fahrenheit
• Able to stand for extended periods of time, walk long distances, and climb ladders
• Able to work for extended 12-hour shifts
• Can work night shifts (7 p.m. – 7 a.m.) seven days at a time and properly manage fatigue
• No auditory or visual impairments restricting the ability to see distances while driving and clearly discern auditory and visual alerts/alarms (not including color blindness)
• Quick response/reaction times Arm-hand steadiness and manual dexterity
