    The Opportunity

    • Conformal coatings solutions spanning consumer electronics, automotive, IOT and industrial markets
    • You’ll be the hands-on, subject matter expert in PECVD coating and drive development of PECVD based technology solutions
    • Newly created role – exceptional opportunity to make an impact in a non-bureaucratic, nimble, high growth environment – starting as individual contributor you’ll become player-coach and build your organization
    • Based in a beautiful, brand-new facility in the Research Triangle

    The Company

The Company works directly with top brand OEMs and manufacturers around the world to keep electronics safe after exposure to water or corrosive environments. Their coating technology provides scalable end-to-end solutions for manufacturers and device makers via a global patent and IP portfolio including equipment, process and chemistry. There is a strong focus on employee engagement

    Job Responsibilities

Research, design, and develop experiments for protective coatings using plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PE-CVD) and other processes

Use practical knowledge of plasma coating chemistry, equipment, physics, and processes to assist coating technology, equipment engineering, process engineering, and operations teams

Be hands on in running experiments, evaluating data, and optimizing equipment and processes

Characterize new materials and processes using various types of analytical instrumentation and measurement tools, including FTIR and UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopy, WVTR, ellipsometry, and microscopy

Define, select, or develop test methods to verify coating performance and properties

Become and remain proficient in the following:

      • Safe handling of chemicals and compressed gases
      • Proper handling of circuit boards and electronic assemblies
      • Conformal coating masking and demasking processes
      • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) control
      • Foreign object debris (FOD) control

Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean work area and adhere to manufacturing and laboratory practices

General laboratory and other duties as required

Work after hours and/or weekends as required

    Required Education and Experience

    • M.S. or Ph.D. in physics, chemical engineering, materials science, or related field
    • 10+ years experience in manufacturing of electronics, semiconductors, coatings, or in a related area – must include meaningful industrial experience not purely academic
    • Experience developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting plasma thin film deposition processes, as well as plasma ashing/etching processes
    • Experience with PE-CVD, ALD equipment and processes including vacuum deposition equipment
    • Experience with 13.56 MHz RF based plasma deposition technology
    • Integrated approach – you understand and can leverage the relationships between the variables of coating chemistry, plasma technology, equipment and process to deliver an optimal solution
    • You’re a “builder” and know how to get from lab scale to commercialization: you have a strong ability to research new processes and ideas, then create an action plan for proving their viability for a mass production solution
    • Ability to design new experiments, thoroughly record and analyze data, and concisely present to upper level managers, directors, and executives
    • The mindset of constantly taking action and anticipating potential roadblocks, then proactively mitigating against risks or impacts
    • Positive, enthusiastic, disciplined and outcome focused
    • Excellent verbal and communications skills with the ability to adapt your style to the audience
    • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision
