    • Lead and coordinate QA/QC at multiple sites, plus lead coatings R&D activities

     

    This is one cool job! Visionary CEO in industry hall of fame has successfully grown multiple businesses. We’re looking for someone to join the team bringing technical knowhow to support continued double-digit growth, ensure quality and consistency of products, and develop new and improved products. You’ll be hands on but also oversee the work of others at several remote manufacturing sites across the southwest, with overall responsibility for management and leadership of the technical function as the company brings R&D and Product Development in-house. This is an opportunity to build something not just fit into an existing structure.

     

    Specific Responsibilities Will Include:

    • Maintain, update and continuously improve QA/QC procedures to ensure the highest standards as well as consistency across locations
    • Leverage good relationships with development partners and raw material suppliers to gain insights and knowledge of new materials available, ensure consistent supply and avoid potential sourcing challenges
    • Further develop and expand in-house lab capabilities including people, equipment, processes, software etc.
    • Develop and lead effective New Product Development process
    • Provide customer-facing support as needed

    The Profile:

    • BS in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science or similar is REQUIRED
    • 10+ years industrial experience in coatings or sealants including formulation, QA/QC is REQUIRED – you’re comfortable both in the R&D lab and also supporting manufacturing and quality
    • Good understanding of structure-property relationships pertaining to coatings resins and additives is REQUIRED
    • Experience with automotive coatings, UV protection, reflective coatings, and/or structural rubber helpful but not required
    • Proven success in new product development and scale up
    • Proven success developing consistent Quality processes
    • Adaptable, flexible – you’re comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment with changing priorities and have a “Do what it takes” attitude
    • Focused, well organized and highly self motivated – you will be the one to introduce process and structure, not just follow an existing approach, and you have the results to prove it
    • You enjoy a balanced combination of managing existing products/product improvements, and developing new products
    • You’re a motivational leader who can gain engagement of your team across multiple locations, and proactively support their development; but you’re still hands-on enough that you enjoy spending part of your day in the lab
    • Strong project management and leadership skills - you enjoy spearheading initiatives and taking ownership of projects to drive them to a successful conclusion
