We’re looking for someone special with a combination of technical engineering education, applied industry experience, and a hands-on, practical approach, to grow a manufacturing process to full completion. Based at the key Spartanburg location, you’ll report to the Regional VP and have primary responsibility for CAPEX implementation, process improvements, and support operational consistency. 


    What You’ll Do: 

    • Lead the implementation of new manufacturing operations 

    • Work with internal Scientists on scale-up projects, as well as with vendors, consultants and Process Engineers to determine the appropriate equipment for production scale processes 

    • Manage the capital equipment procurement process ensuring projects stay on time and within budget in line with project goals 

    • Optimize production through process improvement techniques 

    • Collaborate with internal Development teams to understand products/processes to carry out the scale-up mass production phase 

    • Troubleshoot process development issues by analyzing product failure mode data and laboratory test results to determine causes of problems and develop solutions 

     

    The Profile: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry is REQUIRED 

    • Direct, hands-on engineering experience with new production line installation / setup and manufacturing scale-up is REQUIRED 

    • 5+ years in specialty chemical, catalyst, nanotechnology or other specialty materials manufacturing environment is required, including experience with some or all of the following processes Extrusion, Tableting, Precipitation, Hydrothermal processing, Filtration, Spray drying, Impregnation of powder and formed substrates, Wet milling, and / or Calcination 

    • Meaningful experience with process improvement and plant automation 

    • Adaptable, flexible, hands-on with a high level of initiative – you’re comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment with changing priorities and have a “Do what it takes” attitude 

    • Focused, well organized and highly self-motivated – you will be the one to introduce process improvements, not just follow an existing approach, and you have the results to prove it 

    • Strong project management and leadership skills - you enjoy spearheading initiatives and taking ownership of projects to drive them to a successful conclusion
