    THE OPPORTUNITY

    • Global leader in vision care products and technologies is building brand-new Advanced Technology Center as one of two global R&D hubs; putting together a highly creative team of multidisciplinary scientists to drive rapid innovation and bring additional functionality and innovations in ophthalmic applications
    • Join a team of chemists, physicists and engineers You will prepare new photochromic materials for ophthalmic lenses, typically leading one or two major projects at a time. You will focus in polymeric materials leading the design and characterization of new laminates and coatings for lens materials
    • Apply your creativity and understanding of material properties to revise/improve product performance; take pro-active interest in new industry and technology developments in order to stay ahead of the curve
    • Train lab technicians and may oversee laboratory activities for area of expertise

    THE PROFILE

    • Ph.D. or Advanced degree in materials science, physics, chemistry or chemical engineering

    • Minimum of two, five years preferred, as an R&D scientist in an industrial setting

    • Strong scientific background in photopolymerization and materials science

    • Experience in other disciplines such as photochemistry or analytical characterization of films and multilayer substrates, understand chemistry of organic dyes

    • Hands-on skill set at the bench using instrumentation for material development

    • Expertise in chemical and structural analysis of materials and products: optical, thermal and mechanical properties. Including intimate knowledge of laboratory equipment

    • Familiar with statistical analysis and design of experiments applied to the design and evaluation of new materials and processes

    • Experience with a global company very helpful
