    • Ensure colorants will enhance coating performance and educate others on the chemistry behind the product performance characteristics

    • Identify, explore and prove feasibility of novel product chemistries: act as technical leader on a variety of coatings innovation projects from lab through manufacturing

    • Work with cross-disciplinary teams to develop new coatings technologies from concept through scale up to full production

    • Communicate/translate between sales, technical, manufacturing & service

    • Develop and mentor junior chemists

    PROFILE

    • PhD in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Coatings Technology, Materials Science or related field – this is a MUST HAVE

    • 5+ years direct industrial experience in the Coatings, Adhesives, Sealant or Elastomers (CASE) industries or closely related field - you have a good understanding of physical chemistry, structure-property relationships, and how the different components of the formulation interact to create the desired performance characteristics

    • Waterborne systems experience required

    • Proven experience developing commercially viable new product chemistries and enhanced performance attributes in this space, including all stages from ideation through scale up to manufacturing

    • Initiative in pursuing novel ideas and product enhancements

    • Experience in formulating and testing color pigment dispersions is a plus

    • Strong trouble shooter/problem solver

    • Excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills - proven collaborator internally and externally

    • Willing to live/relocate to northern NJ (relocation assistance is available)
