  • Responsibilities

    Thompson First Group is currently seeking a qualified Process Technician/Engineer for a local client in Georgetown, DE.

    Candidates who have a background working in plastics manufacturing and as a process or mold technician are encourage to apply.

    Job Duties:

    • Establish and monitor parameters for all injection molding machines and processes.
    • Perform sampling of all new tools and resins
    • Optimize molding processes and cycles to achieve or exceed standard cycle times and part quality
    • Troubleshoot process challenges, product defects, both visual and dimensional
    • Perform mold installations and removals as needed
    • Starting and stopping of machines as directed / needed
    • Work with Tool and Die department to maintain defect free products
    • Work with the Maintenance department on all machine / mold / equipment issues
    • Support the department 5S and housekeeping standards and implementation
    • Perform preventive maintenance of all tools that are in the molding machines.
    • Establish and maintain documentation relevant to molding set up and processes
    • Any assignment as directed per management within the scope of personal capabilities
    • Perform housekeeping
    • Color, additive, and resin changes
    • Teach, instruct, and otherwise educate set up technician(s)
    • Support new product / project planning and implementation within the department /facility
    • Assist others in the cleaning / repairing of molds out of the press
    • Familiarity with various resins. Primarily: Polypropylene, High Impact Polystyrene, High Density Polyethylene
    • Familiarity with various molding machines. Primarily Toshiba, Husky, and Engel
    • Demonstrated ability to write legibly, to maintain records, and follow oral and written instructions.
    • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
    • Available to work overtime, including weekends and vacation coverages
    • Ability to communicate in English effectively, both orally and in writing.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.
    • Understanding of basic computer programs.
    • Comfortable in the use of walkies and sit-down forklift. Training to be provided if necessary.
    • Able to lift up to 50 lbs frequently. Physically capable to assist with the moving and handling of tooling components
