  • Responsibilities

    Thompson First Group is seeking an Industrial Machine Shop Parts Inspector for direct placement opportunities for a local client in Portsmouth, VA.

    Major Responsibilities:

    • Determines and uses appropriate inspection processes to confirm assigned products and parts meet specifications utilizing quality control systems and procedures
    • Conducts visual and dimensional tests using calibrated equipment to ensure the accuracy of the finished products and conformance to customer specifications
    • Determines whether parts not meeting specifications can be salvaged
    • Documents measured results of machining operations
    • Prepares reports and associated paperwork documenting inspection findings
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area
    • Performs other related duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED
    • At least 5 years of machining experience is preferred
    • At least two years of experience as a quality control inspector preferred
    • Read blueprints
    • Ability to perform tests and inspections using calibrated instruments
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
    • Language skills - effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English language. Ability to effectively interpret and translate instructions to other employees in a professional and respectful manner
