    Job Description

    JOB SUMMARY: 

    The Database Administrator will design, develop and deploy a new SQL database for a new government case management system. Once the DB is designed, the DBA will work with the legacy DBA to conduct a data migration from the legacy DB to the new DB. Once the system is live, the DBA will handle the administration of the organizations database(s) and develop a long-term strategy for data storage, to include maintenance and wellness of the DB. 

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Duties and Responsibilities):  

    • Identifies, defines, and assesses the properties and specifications necessary for the database management system (DBMS) to meet current and future needs of the organization. 

    • Perform SQL Server installations on clustered and standalone environments. 

    • Automate SQL Server installation processes to streamline installations and to eliminate potential human error. 

    • Develop Backup and Recovery Strategy implementation and testing scenarios utilizing Full backups, Transaction log backups, Database Mirroring and SQL Server Failover Cluster Instances. 

    • Collaborate with business and analyze and interpret requirements to build a logical and physical data model design, including business relationships, entity-relationship diagrams, tables, primary keys and foreign keys. 

    • Assist in database object design such as stored procedures, functions, indexes and views. 

    • Responsible for maintaining the integrity and performance of company databases. 

    • Update and monitor scheduled jobs to perform internal consistency checks for database optimization such rebuilding indexes; update statistics on the indexes, perform clean-up tasks; shrink data and log files as needed. 

    • Implement data migration strategy to transfer data and files from legacy systems for use in new environment. 

    • Implements the Database Security Requirement Guide on database instances and servers. 

    • Develop application reports using Microsoft Reporting Services. 

    • Ensures project and department milestones and goals are met on time and within budget. 

    • Resolves data conflicts for matters such as naming conventions, data privacy, and data ownership. 

    • Maintains knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices in DBMS and related technology. 

    • Collaborate with the Scrum Master and Product Owner to manage the expectations of the teammates and the customer 

    • Participate in agile ceremonies including retrospectives, planning sessions, demonstrations and estimation. 

    • Performs other duties as assigned.
