Business Manager, Ticket Resale

    Job Description

My firm is a Maine based LLC engaged in ticket resale for events in the US and Canada. Annual revenue pre-pandemic was around $4 million and current business is approaching that level now and looking up. In addition to the owner (and this vacancy) there is one other full-time employee. Everyone has always worked remotely; however, I desire a Maine based hire for occasional in-person meetings. My firm sells through websites, like stubhub, and not directly to consumers.

A candidate needs no knowledge of ticket resale to apply. The Business Manager will manage and/or assist in many traditional business processes such as order fulfillment, payment reconciliation, and accounting, To do this, the Business Manager needs to demonstrate advanced excel skills and a firm understanding of “one-to-many” relationships among records. In consultation with the Principal, the Manager will task existing and future personnel regarding inputs to and maintenance of these processes.

The primary goal of the Business Manager is to keep me free to perform functions unique to the business, namely researching which events to buy. As such, the Business Manager will be expected to perform basic functions (such as order fulfillment and importing data into spreadsheets) related to the processes he/she manages as needed (such as when other employees are overwhelmed or taking PTO).

The Business Manager will also be expected to help buy tickets along with the rest of the team (what? You thought I had “bots” do that?). This will take up approximately a quarter to a third of the Manager’s time. This is not negotiable. Along those lines- the work pace of a ticket resale operation is best compared to one that day trades. I get whipped around by new information throughout the day and as my priorities change so do those of my employees. This is best illustrated in person. Applicants should sincerely be interested in a “fast paced environment”.

This position will pay the individual selected a salary of $60k-$100k/year to start. The expectation is for 50 hours of work a week. Minimal help on some evenings and weekends is necessary but would depend on the Manager’s availability.

Benefits consist of PTO and holidays, 401k eligibility after a year of service, and potentially some health care reimbursement. Profit sharing is possible for a salaried employee that has proven him/herself on the job.

Please send your resume, along with a description of how your skills/experience directly address the responsibilities of this role.
