A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A TIGERS LICENSED CUSTOMS BROKER
- Preparing and filing customs forms for international shipments according to customs regulations, laws, and procedures
- Clearing goods through customs and to their destinations for clients
- Requesting and compiling necessary import documentation, such as customs invoices, certificates of origin, and cargo control documents
- Ensuring all shipments are handled and filed in compliance with US Customs and Border Protection regulations
- Classifying shipments using shipment details and the tariff coding system
- Maintaining shipping records
- Tracking international shipments to ensure proper arrival at their destination
- Resolving any shipment delays and customs holds
- Providing assistance with insurance claims on lost shipments
- Determining and issuing duty, tax, and tariff payments for client shipments
- Quoting duty and tax rates on goods to be imported based on federal tariffs and excise taxes
- Resolving any issues related to the over-payment or underpayment of taxes and duty
- Maintain up to date knowledge of current rules and regulations related to US Customs operations and sharing knowledge with clients via company portal
- Educating clients about customs regulations, international tariffs, shipping restrictions, and insurance requirements
- Providing recommendations on transportation options, carriers, and shipping routes
- Assisting freight forwarding team with entire freight transportation process, and handling shipments A to Z as needed
WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE A TIGER?
- Experience working in a customs broker capacity
- Customs Broker License
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience
