    Job Description

    We are currently seeking an experienced PROJECT ENGINEER II OR III candidate for a STORMWATER MANAGEMENT position in our RICHMOND, VA office.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

    • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to investigate storm drainage issues and support stormwater management designs
    • Provide engineering assistance for the design of best management practices (BMPs), low impact development (LID) solutions, and other stormwater related projects
    • Provide technical expertise and check accuracy of all completed work. Assure that a QA/QC review is completed at the appropriate stages of each project
    • Prepare project specifications to include materials, installation, inspection and payment of items specific to a project
    • Conduct background research on technical issues and write clear reports and memorandums to convey project results to our clients
    • Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers in order to solve problems
    • Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates
    • Complete field observation, inspection and data collection duties as directed
    • Communicate with clients and internal design team as directed by the Project Manager
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

    • A bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related degree
    • Two or more years experience in environmental/civil engineering including stream and wetland restoration design in Virginia and/or in other states where Timmons Group conducts business
    • Rosgen Stream Classification Certification Levels I - IV or equivalent preferred
    • A demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
    • Working knowledge of CADD software (Civil 3D preferred)
    • Must be dependable, responsible, and have good written/verbal communication skills
    • Must have a valid driver’s license

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Ability to frequently walk over rough, uneven surfaces
    • Ability to sustain periods of strenuous physical exertion
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
    • Part of the job requirements and the physical demands are performed in outdoor weather conditions with frequent exposure to wet/humid conditions and extreme heat or cold
    • Other adverse factors may include exposure to ticks and poison ivy
