    We are currently seeking an experienced URBAN PLANNER to join our CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA office.  

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

    • Conduct research and develop recommendations on land use, public utilities, community facilities, housing, and transportation
    • Prepare and review interim and final planning documents, including writing, mapping, and graphic design and ensure consistency with local codes and regulations
    • Assist the project team with drawings, drafting and preparation of plans while demonstrating knowledge of the general concepts of planning, architecture and design
    • Coordinate with multiple stakeholders while ensuring deadlines are met
    • Attend public and steering committee meetings, including evening meetings
    • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

    • Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA), Urban Planning, or related degree, Master’s degree preferred
    • A minimum of 2 years of experience in planning, ideally related to public and private land development as well as infrastructure related projects
    • AICP Certification is desirable
    • Excellent graphic design skills
    • Strong, creative graphics skills and ability to distill complex information into public-facing materials
    • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Arc GIS, and Adobe
    • Understanding of design, details, and construction drawing preparation including site layout, grading, hardscape, drainage, and planting
