  • Responsibilities

    POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for leading tooling development for new products, product enhancements and product redesign as mapped out by product Engineering. Evaluates the potential and practicality of tooling designs in development and relies on experience and judgment of tooling engineers to develop the plan and accomplish goals. This position requires exercising independent judgment to perform the responsibilities described herein.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ensures that safe work practices are performed and the appropriate PPE is used in shop.
    • Oversees basic shop operations, plans work content and scheduling of overtime as necessary.
    • Oversees key projects, processes and performance reports, data and analysis
    • Ensures that operator basic care of equipment is carried out in a timely fashion on recommended service intervals.
    • Plans raw material purchases and shop equipment and supplies.

     REQUIREMENTS:                                                                                                                 

    • Bachelor of Engineering degree from a recognized college / university.
    • Ability to coordinate and motivate local team that includes tooling engineers, CNC technicians and Patternmakers.
    • Clear concise project reporting – examples required
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
    • Demonstrated ability to develop repeatable processes or improve existing processes in and out of tooling development
    • Project management skill
      • Demonstrated the ability to push projects over the finish line with sound planning and persistent execution
      • Understand how to align resources, seek the input of key constituents, and manage others to achieve desired results

     

     

    Required Skills

    • Open and collaborative style, must be comfortable working in an environment where ideas are shared and challenged.
    • Comfortable with working with multiple project simultaneously
    • Energy and enthusiasm, candidates must find the work "fun" and enjoy being accountable and willing to hold others accountable.
    • 3D Cad skill at the level to quickly visualize ideas in a virtual environment

     

    Required Experience

    A minimum of four (4) years manufacturing engineering experience.

    Minimum of four (4) years working in a union manufacturing environment.

    PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

    • Foundry tooling development experience
    • 3D printing experience
    • 3D Cad skills at the level to mentor less experienced designers
