    Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities have an opportunity to whet their appetite for community-based employment at ArcWorks, where they assemble and package materials for local manufacturers. The workshop, located at the Canal Side Business Center, reflects the typical workplace, with supervisors, teams, performance goals, a structured work environment, but most of all a supportive and caring atmosphere.

    As a Production Team Leader you will provide supervision, support and services to people with developmental disabilities in obtaining the necessary job skills which will allow them to work independently in community employment through the assembly, production and packaging of contract work for ArcWorks business customers. The Production Team Leader is responsible for the set-up, production, quality and on-time delivery of customer products as well as accurate and timely completion of required documentation.

    Required Skills

     

    • Basic computer literacy (e-mail, Internet searches, simple edits to Word documents and Excel spreadsheets)
    • Ability to read and comprehend written information
    • Perform simple mathematical calculations
    • Coordinate and oversee multiple production tasks / jobs simultaneously
    • Supervise and coordinate the activities of 20 – 25 people
    • Assess, evaluate and document skills, abilities and areas of improvement
    • Effectively communicate with people in variety of methods
    • Communicate in ASL is desirable but not required
    • The ability to interact and cooperate with all ArcWorks employees
    • Displays commitment to the future success of individuals we serve, program areas, staff and agency

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Sitting 50% of the time, standing 25% of the time, walking 25% of the time
    • Frequently required to stoop and reach.
    • Frequently required to stand for sustained periods of time and walk long distances.
    • Close visual acuity to view a computer terminal, prepare and analyze data and figures, operate machines.
    • Sedentary work requiring frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds by lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.

    Required Experience

     

    High school diploma or G.E.D, plus 2 years’ experience in manufacturing/production setting (manufacturing, food service or other applicable field). Experience as Group Leader, Team Leader or Supervisor is preferred but not required. One year experience in working with people who have developmental disabilities is preferred but not required. Experience in training on one to one basis is preferred.
