    Summary/Objective

    Abstractors perform title searches at designated courthouses in addition to using client approved online websites. An abstractor will produce a limited title certificate that reflects a chronological history of each parcel. Abstractors must be able to work in a fast-paced environment in order to meet tight deadlines and strict standards.

    Essential Functions

    • Pulls tax cards from county courthouses or county’s on-line software system.
    • Searches county property records for all documents pertaining to each parcel.
    • Must be able to research title back to patent.
    • Must be able to deed plot metes and bounds legal descriptions.
    • Prepare Chains of Title and Limited Title Certificates.
    • Research probates, judgments, and district court records.
    • Enters all title information into database.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by title supervisor.

    Competencies

    • Ability to research public records.
    • Analyze title data and property maps.
    • Interpret deeds, court actions and probates.
    • Familiarity with title law in each state.
    • Ability to Deed plot.
    • Effective communication skills.

    Required Education and Experience

    • High school diploma.
    • 3 years of Right-of-Way industry experience.
    • 3 years of Title Abstracting experience.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Pro.
