Education : High School Diploma Experience : 24 Hours per Week : 40 Description : Jets Produce is seeking a well-qualified and experienced Purchasing Agent/Buyer. This position is a full-time and on-site/limited domestic travel to vendor's sites (NY and NJ) position. The candidate will be responsible for buying, coordinating and purchasing of products while meeting the company quality standards. The candidate will be required to have an in-depth knowledge of both fruits and vegetables items. Duties: Secures and analyzes quotations; negotiates prices and terms with suppliers; recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities; Confers with existing vendors to obtain product information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule; Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority; Recommends forward buying opportunities; Places orders, creates PO's and does all required follow up until product is successfully received; Replenishes inventory on a timely basis to minimize out-of-stock; Responsible for spot-checking the quality of incoming product; Coordinates with sales in the area of entering and receiving of drop (FOB) shipments; Works with suppliers on delivery problems, back orders and product returns; Develops and maintains good, positive working relationships with suppliers, brokers, agents, sales contacts; Responsible for updates and necessary follow-through on price changes and allowances; and Follows company ethics guidelines and the Perishable Agriculture Commodities Act (PACA), regarding business practices - Completes and understands the online PACA training classes.Required: Minimum High school diploma; Minimum two (2) years work experience in the produce industry supporting the buying function; Must be able to adapt a flexible work schedule with some evenings, weekends, and holiday's as business required; and Must have a good knowledge to vegetables and fruits and be able to visually examine products for quality and freshness.Location: Bronx, NYContact:Please forward resume and cover letter with your Salary Requirement to the following:hr.jetsproduce@gmail.com / 263A Row B, NYC Terminal Market, Bronx, NY 10474 County : Bronx Email : hr.jetsproduce@gmail.com URL : https://nlx.jobsyn.org/d6566895d81a476f950363509ab6f959159
