    Role

    The Engineering Manager provides leadership, managerial direction and technical expertise for both capital and maintenance engineering projects to maintain and improve the facility equipment and infrastructure.  The Engineering Manager has the responsibility to direct the mill’s project engineering resources, the drafting department and maintain equipment drawings and records.  This role is responsible for the direction of the mill’s High Voltage Electrical Engineer, the Mill Pressure Vessel integrity program and annual major repair jobs intended to maintain mill reliability.

    This position reports to the Director of Maintenance, Reliability and Engineering and plays a critical role in accomplishing the operating objectives, MIP objectives and executing maintenance, strategic and cost reduction projects to help maintain the viability and future of the facility.

    REQUIREMENTS

    ·        Bachelor’s Degree required, Engineering preferred;

    ·        Minimum five (5) years’ experience in manufacturing maintenance or operations environment;

    ·        Strong leadership skills:  Can effectively lead engineering resources and outside subject matter experts.

    ·        Project engineering experience with projects > $1million with multiple project team members.

    ·        Highly developed communications skills, to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, often regarding complex issues;

    ·        Collaborative working style, with a natural ability to forge effective relationships with peers and other key operating managers, often in the context of competing interests;

    ·        Knowledge of the design and maintenance of industrial equipment.  Specific knowledge of pulp mill, papermaking, finishing, power and utilities equipment is beneficial.

    ·        Demonstrable successes in implementing improvement projects and facility infrastructure projects.

    ·        Essential to have the ability to organize spending and project reports for higher level internal use.

    ·        Must be very organized and be an effective planner to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

    ·        Experienced and effective in developing engineers and future mill leaders.

    ·        Have the ability to break down barriers that are slowing or stopping progress

    ·        Needs to be effective at meeting dead-lines and informing key stake-holders of issues related to project time-lines.

    ·        Computer skills using various platforms to complete work are essential.

    ·        Results Driven and Action Oriented to meet objectives related to effective spending of the facility capital and repair job budgets.

    ·        Expected to have the ability to help lead the development and execute the facility three year plan for capital and repair.
