About Sylvania Children's Center
Sylvania Children's Center is entering its 35th year this fall as a NAEYC Accredited, Step Up To Quality Gold Rated program. Quality is the most important thing we do — it creates meaningful outcomes for children, positive experiences for families, and real opportunities for growth on our team. We have a big vision for the next 10 years, and the scale we want to achieve starts and ends with having the best educators in our program.
Who Thrives Here
The educators who thrive at SCC are passionate about early childhood — not because it's a job title, but because they genuinely believe these years shape everything that follows.
They plan with intention — observing children's interests and designing experiences driven by them across every developmental domain. They scaffold as each child grows and pivot when the moment calls for it. They build real, daily partnerships with families — genuine two-way communication that earns trust and invites families into the learning.
They embody NAEYC's standards — creating environments that reflect each child's identity and family, upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct, and tying their growth to our Standards of Excellence: Strong Contributor, Difference Maker, and Above & Beyond.
If that's the educator you are — we want to hear from you.
The Role
The Toddler Educator works during one of the most dynamic stages of early childhood — when language explodes, independence kicks in, and big emotions need consistent, skilled guidance. You will plan experiences driven by what your toddlers are curious about, scaffold learning as their skills grow, and hold the kind of classroom that families trust and children thrive in. This role takes real skill and a deep belief that these years matter.
Responsibilities

Use positive guidance strategies and Conscious Discipline to support toddlers through emotional and behavioral challenges
Scaffold learning — adjusting up or down as each child's skills and confidence grow
Facilitate daily routines — meals, toileting, rest, and transitions — with consistency and calm
Build genuine two-way partnerships with families — communicating daily about each child's milestones, activities, and development through Procare and Lillio
Maintain a classroom environment that reflects each child's identity, culture, and family
Maintain classroom safety in compliance with OAC licensing and NAEYC standards
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development (min. 20 hours/year)
