    Title: Driver Job Category: Driver/After School ProgramLocation: Hampton Roads Travel Required: Community BasedReports to: After School Supervisor Position Type: Part-Time The Van Aide should have knowledge of Virginia’s rules and regulations as it relates to vehicle safety of passengers during transit. Safe conditions will be maintained while traveling by enforcing safety and discipline. The primary goal of the van driver is to ensure everyone in the vehicle is safe and secured during transit. Once the destination is reached the van driver is then obligated to make sure the minor client is let off curbside and is retrieved by an adult prior to pulling away. The van driver is to maintain a safe, environment while ensuring a high level of program quality when working to establish positive relationships with all program participants and other staff members. The van driver will: 1) implement recommendations given by the supervisor 2) attend meetings when scheduled 3) turn in incident/injury reports when necessary; and 4) work in a team environment to ensure safety and proper supervision. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Van Drivers spend majority of their time in the van. When not on the van the driver will spend time in the building helping to assist the workers with daily tasks on an as needed basis. Van Driver’s work a minimum of 35 hours weekly at $10-$12 per hour. The shifts will be split by morning pickups, and afternoon drop offs.SKILLS:1. Ability to drive a fifteen passenger van for pickups and field trips. 2. Able to take initiative 3. Non-judgmental about the client’s situation4. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing9. Understand and follow both oral and written directionsSPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Supervise children, with safety as a priority while following risk management policies.2. Participate in the cleaning of the interior of assigned vehicle.3. Always drop children off curbside.4. Attend trainings and regular meetings.5. Participate in and evaluate monthly fire drills. 6. Instruct students on the safe and proper use of seatbelts.7. Review program plans with Supervisor and other staff members for effective program implementation.8. Inspect the surrounding area and equipment for safety hazards; taking corrective action to prevent injuries.9. Interact professionally and appropriately with clients, parents and staff. 10. Demonstrate the values of caring, respect, honesty, integrity and responsibility in all of your interactions with participants, members, guests, volunteers and fellow staff.11. Report all incidents to the driver and supervisor immediately.12. Conduct end of day safety and security check by inspecting and locking the vehicle.13. Implement emergency plan in the event of an accident.14. Fill out accident/ incident reports as needed.15. Follow Together Lives Change policies and procedures as it relates to your position.16. All other relevant duties assigned by your supervisor. 17. Must be at least 21 years old, with a positive driving record.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: At least six months experience with working in a therapeutic environment, In-service cell phone, criminal background check and Tuberculosis clearance.
