    Job Description

    OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    The role is responsible for overseeing and managing the full spectrum of HR activities, including hiring, training & development, employee relations, compensation & benefits, and terminations. The job holder is part of the regional management team and acts as business partner to all business units in the region in managing and resolving their HR issues and meeting their people-related needs.

    The role holder is the central point for the roll-out and implementation of all HR/People-related activities and ensures that our Toll Values are at the heart of all that we do in North America.

    (S)he regularly liaises with the SVP HR TGF and business leaders to support through delivery of the HR strategy and an annual People Plan - including advice, sourcing materials, facilitation, communication, coordination, training, and ‘on-the-ground’ delivery. Important is also to build linkages across Toll’s network and to develops a consistent, easily understood and pragmatic approach to people-related matters. Key is also the assurance of compliance and alignment with all relevant Toll policies and processes.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Ensures handling of full spectrum of HR activities and staff matters including recruitment & selection, on/off-boarding, compensation & benefits, performance management, training and development, personnel record keeping, and employee/industrial relations.
    • Formulates and implements HR regional strategies, and where necessary policies & procedures. Often it will be more driving consistency of policies and processes, that are led by Group HR.
    • Manages and handles all aspects of North America’s HR administrative duties as well as any other ad-hoc projects.
    • Provides comprehensive support on Group & Divisional projects & assignments. Ensures meeting any Group & Divisional reporting requirements.
    • Provides HR guidance and support, together with leading/implementing change programs to all offices in the region.
    • Ensures compliance with local, state and federal laws and industry regulations by advising leaders on legal implications of any HR issues related to discipline and employee grievances. • Maintains close communication channels with employees, subordinate and management.
    • Performs any ad-hoc duties as required.

    PRE-REQUISITES:

    In order to succeed in this role, it is expected that you will have:

    KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

    • 10+ years’ experience in HR, some of which at a strategic / senior management level.
    • Understanding of logistics & freight forwarding business, its operational processes and organisational structures is a distinct advantage.
    • Good knowledge of the relevant federal, state and local labor legislation.
    • Experience with change management including complex transformations.
    • Knowledge on how to manage operations, set and meet work priorities to achieve outcomes within the required time frame.
    • Experience dealing with demanding stakeholders and ability to facilitate collaborative forums.
    • Proven ability to work in an international, multi-cultural environment.
    • Leadership through developing and using effective strategies, change management and interpersonal skills. Effective in supporting multiple sites virtually and building/being part of a high-performance culture.
    • Experienced and track record in developing individuals and teams to realize their potential.

    TECHNICAL/PROFESSIONAL SKILLS REQUIRED

    • Ability to embrace and champion change in a dynamic, ambiguous and challenging business environment.
    • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
    • Strong presentation, training and facilitation skills. Excellent organisational and time management skills.
    • Strong EQ & interpersonal/communication skills. Qualifications • Bachelor or Master level in a relevant discipline.
    • Any HR qualifications (SHRM, CIPD) considered a distinct advantage.
