    POSITION OVERVIEW

    The Tooling Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of tooling and packaging machinery within a manufacturing environment. This role is essential in ensuring equipment reliability, reducing downtime, supporting production schedules, and maintaining safe and efficient operations.

    The position requires hands-on maintenance support for tools and equipment used in packaging and production processes. The successful candidate will work closely with production teams, maintenance personnel, and supervisors to ensure tools are properly maintained, calibrated, and available for continuous operations.

    MEASURES OF SUCCESS / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot tooling, machinery, and packaging equipment for wear, damage, and performance issues

    Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on tools and equipment

    Develop and follow preventive maintenance schedules in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and industry standards

    Perform routine maintenance activities including cleaning, lubrication, adjustments, calibration, inspections, and minor repairs

    Ensure tools and equipment are properly calibrated to maintain product quality and consistency

    Quickly identify and resolve equipment malfunctions to minimize production downtime

    Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with workplace safety protocols and regulations

    Identify and report potential hazards, equipment failures, or safety concerns

    Monitor tool inventory and ensure availability of required spare parts and supplies

    Coordinate with procurement and inventory teams for timely replenishment of maintenance materials

    Maintain organized, labelled, and secure tool storage areas

    Maintain accurate maintenance records including inspections, repairs, calibration data, and equipment history

    Coordinate maintenance activities with production teams to minimize operational disruptions

    Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability and efficiency

    Operate forklifts to assist with material handling as required

    Perform additional duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS / IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES

    High school diploma or GED required

    Technical certification or vocational training in mechanical systems, electrical systems, or tool maintenance preferred

    Previous experience as a Tool Maintenance Technician or Maintenance Mechanic preferred

    Experience in manufacturing, production, or industrial environments strongly preferred

    Strong knowledge of tool maintenance principles, troubleshooting, and repair procedures

    Familiarity with calibration processes and precision measuring tools

    Basic understanding of electrical systems, circuits, wiring, and schematics

    Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and maintenance documentation

    Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills

    Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management

    Effective communication and teamwork skills

    Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

    Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards

    Ability to remain alert and work safely in a fast-paced environment

    Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate a forklift
