Tool Setter
Location: Radford, VA
Pay: $18.00 per hour
Shift: 1st Shift
Schedule:
Monday – Thursday
6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Overtime may be required on Fridays and Saturdays based on production demand.
Position Summary
The Tool Setter is responsible for preparing, installing, adjusting, and maintaining tooling used in extrusion and molding equipment. This role ensures production equipment is properly set up to maintain quality standards, production efficiency, and safe machine operation.
Tool Setters work closely with production operators, supervisors, and maintenance to support daily production goals.
Key Responsibilities
• Install, change, and adjust tooling used in extrusion and production machines.
• Prepare machines for production runs by ensuring tools are properly aligned and secured.
• Assist with changeovers between production runs.
• Verify tooling setup meets production specifications and quality standards.
• Monitor machines during startup to ensure proper operation.
• Troubleshoot minor tooling or machine setup issues.
• Assist production operators with machine adjustments when needed.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of tooling and work areas.
• Ensure proper documentation of tool changes and machine setups.
• Follow all company safety procedures and lockout/tagout requirements.
• Work with maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime.
Requirements
• Previous experience working in a manufacturing or production environment preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with tools and equipment.
• Ability to follow setup procedures and technical instructions.
• Comfortable working around industrial machinery.
• Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
