    The company is a leading manufacturer of custom springs, wireforms, metal stampings, and assemblies since 1946.

    Job Description:

    Analyzes a variety of specifications, lays out metal stock, sets-up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate or repair cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges while applying knowledge of tool design, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, machining, and assembly procedures.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1\. Studies specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, or tool description, and plans sequence of operations.

    2\. Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock to lay out work pieces for machining.

    3\. Sets-up and operates machine tools, such as lathe, milling machine, shaper, and grinder to machine parts to

    specifications, and verifies conformance of machine parts to specifications.

    4\. Positions and secures parts on surface plate or worktable, using devices such as vises, V-blocks, and angle

    plates.

    5\. Fits and assembles parts into assemblies or mechanisms, using hand tools.

    6\. Verifies dimensions and alignment, using measuring instruments such as micrometers, height gauges, gauges

    blocks, and optical comparators following IS0/TS 16949 work instructions.

    7\. Examines and modifies standard tools as required.

    8\. Develops specifications from general descriptions and draws or sketches tool to be fabricated using drafting

    tools.

    9\. Communicates with co-workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities.

    10\. Inspects and measures parts to maintain statistical process control charts.

    11\. Obtains first piece inspection of samples.

    12\. Troubleshoots tool, machine, or material problems.

    13\. Sets-up tooling in a wide variety of production equipment and product lines.

    14\. Maintains an organized and neat work station.

    15\. Prevents damage to the equipment, process, and material.

    16\. Adheres to all Company safety rules and procedures.

    17\. Performs to the prescribed standard or rate.

    18\. Returns all hand tools, gauges, parts, etc. to proper storage areas.

    19\. Communicates all problems and other work-related issues with supervisor.

    20\. Receives, understands, and follows all written and oral instruction.

    21\. Complies with all Company policies and procedures including safety and attendance requirements.

    22\. Resolves day-to-day issues by working effectively with others.

    23\. Performs other duties required to meet Company needs as assigned by supervisor.

    COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:

    1\. Ability to read, write, communicate, and understand instruction in English.

    2\. Ability to measure parts by using tools, gauges, and quality instruments.

    3\. Basic math including geometry and trigonometry skills.

    4\. Ability to read blueprints and must have a comprehensive understanding of tolerances.

    5\. Understanding of statistical control of critical dimensions and process capability.

    6\. Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

    7\. Ability to work independently.

    8\. Ability to follow written and verbal instruction.

    9\. Requires frequent attention, repetitive work, and some checking of the process and the product.

    MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    1\. High school diploma or equivalent.

    2\. Minimum of 5 years’ experience using a full range of manual tool room equipment. (CNC machine

    programming skills and/or familiarity with 4-Slides, Multi-slides, Punch Presses, and other wire-forming

    machines strongly preferred but not required.)

    3\. In-house training on all assigned machinery and equipment.

    MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    1\. Ability to use hands 100% of the workday.

    2\. Ability to stand and/or walk 100% of the workday.

    3\. Ability to bend, stoop, and/or twist 50% of the workday.

    4\. Ability to exert physical force to push, pull, lift, and/or carry 40 pounds occasionally.

    5\. Ability to work in a shop environment - continuous exposure to potentially hazardous metal working machinery

    and equipment, loud noises, dust, oils and solvents.
