Job Responsibilities:
Fabrication & Repair: Construct, alter, and repair a wide variety of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges to very close tolerances.
Machine Operation: Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders to machine parts.
Blueprint Analysis: Study specifications, engineering blueprints, and tool orders to plan work.
Design & Layout: Draw preliminary sketches; prepare layout and detail drawings.
Strategy Development: Develop efficient strategies for fabricating designed dies using the most suitable machining resources.
Quality & Safety: Meet all quality and efficiency expectations while complying with safety regulations and maintaining a clean, orderly work area.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Required:
Education: Minimum 4 years of high school/vocational school; completion of an apprentice program is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a tool and die environment.
Language: Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Technical Skills: Ability to interpret engineering specifications, including operative sheets, drawings, and sketches.
Mathematical Aptitude: Demonstrated ability to use shop mathematics, including geometric and trigonometric formulas.
Precision: Experience working with close dimensional tolerances and using all types of precision measuring instruments.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently.
