Tooling Technician - Injection Molding Manufacturing - Base Salary to 27.00/hour - Gardner, MA
Our client is a plastic injection molding manufacturer supporting injection mold maintenance and production tooling operations. They are seeking a hands-on Tooling Technician to support mold maintenance, repair, and production tooling operations in a high production environment, on 1st shift.
This role is approximately 70–80% hands-on mold maintenance and repair, with the remainder focused on coordination and documentation.
Responsibilities:
Perform preventative maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of plastic injection molds (multi-cavity, hot runner systems preferred)
Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble molds to production-ready condition
Diagnose tooling issues impacting production and work cross-functionally with Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams
Coordinate external vendor repairs and new tooling builds as needed
Conduct mold trials and validation for new or repaired tooling
Execute mold changes and support production floor tooling needs
Maintain tooling records, last shot samples, and documentation in IQMS (ERP system)
Generate work orders for mold repair and modifications
Participate in on-call support for urgent tooling issues
Qualifications:
Must have experience working with plastic injection molds in a production environment
3+ years of experience in plastic injection mold maintenance and repair
Experience working with high-cavitation molds and/or hot runner systems strongly preferred
Strong understanding of injection molding processes in a high-volume production environment
Hands-on experience with mold disassembly, cleaning, troubleshooting, and reassembly
Experience with manual machining equipment (mill, lathe, grinder) preferred
Familiarity with IQMS or similar ERP systems preferred
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve tooling issues with minimal supervision
Valid driver’s license required; forklift certification and DOT medical card preferred
