Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Toolmaker to join a well-equipped Tool Room supporting precision manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for building, repairing, modifying, and maintaining tools, fixtures, and gauges used in a high-quality machine shop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, repair, modify, and maintain machinists' tools, fixtures, and gauges
- Manufacture tooling such as dovetails, counterbores, drills, and reamers
- Set up and operate:
- o CNC mills and lathes
- o Manual mills and lathes
- o Surface and cylindrical grinders
- o EDM equipment
- Analyze tool specifications, job layouts, and engineering drawings
- Interpret complex blueprints and apply GD&T standards
- Lay out metal stock and prepare materials for machining
- Fit and assemble components to fabricate or repair cutting tools
- Secure and align parts on surface plates and worktables
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, and alignment using precision measuring instruments
- Modify standard tooling to meet production requirements
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe Tool Room
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Toolmaker certification or equivalent hands-on experience
- Proven experience as a Toolmaker in a manufacturing or machine shop environment
- Advanced blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Advanced math skills
- Basic to advanced computer skills
- Ability to read, write, and understand basic English
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to stand for 8–10 hours per shift
Preferred Experience
- Precision machining or contract manufacturing background
- Experience supporting production tooling and engineering teams
- Knowledge of tooling materials and heat-treatment processes
