Top Class Actions is looking for a contract general assignment digital editor to help grow the consumer news desk as a writer and editor. The ideal candidate knows how a newsroom works and has the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
The consumer news desk at Top Class Actions covers breaking news stories in class actions, mass torts, product recalls, open settlements as well as analysis, trends, and feature writing and reporting on lawsuits that affect consumers. The consumer news digital editor delivers live updates to existing class action content, and GA writers produce multiple pieces of news content each day.
The ideal candidate understands content aggregation, writing, and line editing on a deadline. The general assignment writer must be able to produce clean copy, quickly; keep up with case filings, and assist with editing, production, and photo selection.
This is a remote contract position.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Previous journalism experience and excellent news judgment
Strong editing and writing skills for both copy and clarity
Able to produce clean, informative copy quickly and on deadline
Demonstrated skill at reading and distilling lawsuits
Familiarity with SEO concepts and best practices

Intuitively understand sourcing and journalistic standards
Know their way around a content management systems
Geek out on data and analytics
Have no problem handling multiple, fast-moving storylines at once
Have experience writing for newsletters and social media as well as websites
