We are seeking a full time Kennel Manager for our dog resort located in Carrollton. We offer daycare, overnight lodging and spa. We are passionate about dogs and have the highest standards when it comes to the comfort, safety, and happiness of our clients and staff.
The Kennel Manager will be responsible for running daily operations for daycare and boarding, training new staff, ensuring safety in play yards, and communicating with the general and assistant managers. This is a very hands-on position in which this position works alongside our attendants to manage group play, maintain cleanliness of the facility, care for the dogs, open or close the facility each day.
This candidate should be able to work long hours on their feet performing physical labor, be able to lift up to 50 pounds. and work indoors and outdoors. The best candidate would feel very comfortable in all aspects of animal care, leadership, and customer service.
Job Duties:
Managing up to 15 employees, while ensuring the safety of our clients and a positive workplace environment
Educating new hires on day-to-day tasks, animal behavior, safety protocols, etc. while ensuring accurate completion of tasks
Leading, managing, and aiding kennel attendants with boarding and playgroup operations, we work as a team from top to bottom and everyone helps when necessary to ensure a quality standard of care for all
Supervising dogs free-play environment and monitoring their behavior to ensure a safe atmosphere for all four-legged clients
Monitoring dogs and communicating any relevant issues during their stay
Communicating with clients in a pleasant, professional manner, and providing exceptional customer service
Reception duties, such as checking in/out clients, logging vaccination records, taking reservations, educating our clients on our fantastic services and handling client communications
Actively communicating issues and needs with the management team to promote company growth
Environmental cleaning- as well as monitoring daily procedures and thoroughness
Cleaning up after pets, so play areas are clean and sanitary
Prepping/distributing meals and medicating animals as needed
Occasional bathing, drying and brushing out dogs. Clipping nails; using Dremel
Participate in ongoing animal behavior education
Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older
Have a minimum of 2 years of direct management experience of a team of 5 or more employees.
1+ years of animal care industry experience (veterinary or daycare management) is required
2+ years of dog handling skills are required
The ability to work major holidays including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.
Rotating weekends are required, no exceptions
Must have excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills.
Must have a driver's license and their own transportation. Must be punctual and dependable
Must love dogs and be comfortable with dogs of all breeds and sizes
Ability to stay calm and think clearly in stressful situations
Experience in managing a group of dogs and recognizing canine behavioral signs
Confidence to deal with stressful situations and difficult employees and clients is a must
