A beloved Arizona-based quick service restaurant (“QSR”) chain with 24 corporate-owned locations is seeking an accomplished Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) to join a growth oriented executive team. With a proven management team and the backing of a leading family office sponsor, the company is positioned to become a $100 million brand in the next five years.
The company is looking for a proven CFO with multi-unit experience (preferably in the restaurant industry) and a background in establishing and driving key analytics and performance drivers in fast-paced and high-growth businesses. The CFO will bring a hands-on approach and be a strong communicator across all levels of the business. Ideally, the CFO will have a background working in a private equity-backed business with experience managing banking relationships, cash flow, and a leveraged balance sheet. Experience managing an active growth pipeline via new unit development in multiple markets is an asset.
A competitive compensation package is offered that will include base salary, annual cash performance bonus, and an a meaningful equity grant to provide participation in the value creation of the business.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance; CPA and/or MBA preferred
12-15 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 6-7 years of management experience
Experience working with private equity firms and multi-unit businesses; restaurant experience a plus
Highly experienced in budget management and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); experience managing auditor engagements producing certified financial statements
Experience interacting with BOD’s and producing BOD reporting and presentation materials
Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and executive presence - ability to motivate staff, while also optimizing performance and profitability
Background overseeing Information Technology functions including but not limited to security, data science, data warehousing, reporting and data analytics
Experience working with commercial banks / lenders and managing those relationships
History of working with third-party vendors and general contracting / contract management / legal interaction
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems to better manage the business and to facilitate clean audits with limited adjustments; ensures that all financial approval processes are in place and followed
Manage the accounting department with multiple cross-functioning revenue centers utilizing Restaurant 365 accounting software; maintain company records in accordance with GAAP
Partner with executive team to develop strategic business plans, initiatives, and operational models with a strong focus on revenue growth, profitability, and ROI; monitor and support the implementation of these projects by working intimately with executive team, staff, and BOD
Maximize the use of technology, data science, and data analytics to drive company-wide focus on achieving strategic objectives and revenue/margin growth
Through proactive leadership and effective communication, support the strategic growth of the company and drive organizational effectiveness and a healthy culture
Consistently support management team to achieve budget, revenue and EBITDA goals
Partner with key stakeholders to aid the company in achieving its growth plans
Rigorously review and improve the company’s commercial activities
Manage reporting and relationships with commercial bank / lender and reporting requirements with institutional ownership and BOD
