Here's what we need:
We’re looking for an Associate Payroll Manager who loves to dig in and optimize systems while also reconciling and analyzing data. This role will also be highly involved in ensuring compliance, accurate payroll processing, testing, reconciliation, and internal/external audits.
What you’ll be doing:
Serve as a thought leader on the team while challenging the norm and developing new processes
Develop, optimize, and execute processes that deliver compliant, accurate, and timely payrolls
Ensure that computing, withholding, and other deductions associated with net pay is done properly
Ensure wage attachments, taxes, 401k, direct deposits, and other payroll liabilities are processed correctly in the ERP system
Maintain Ultimate software in accordance with federal, state, and local legal requirements
Manage the accuracy of payroll preparation by reviewing and/or completing reports
Assist with maintaining business rules in UltiPro and understand their impact on employee checks
Tax reconciliations
Set up and maintain tax filings for new states as needed
Process amendments as needed
Assist with planning and execution of payroll needs for exception timing such as holidays
Develop and manage escheatment and void check process with accounting
Resolve Payroll and Accounting cash variances
Manage cases with UltiPro payment services
Support manager with year-end procedures (prep, audits, communication, and finalization of W2s)
Suggest, test, and implement system enhancements
Assist with Ultimate Platform configuration (development, testing, and rollout)
Test major CORE HCM system changes (i.e. new local taxes, workflows, etc.)
Assist with creation of major employee communications as needed
Suggest and implement best practices
Create Payroll Statement of Procedures
Maintain accurate employee records in UltiPro by ensuring local taxation is legally accurate and UTA works properly to reflect the needs of the field and other departments, etc.
Configuration and testing of UTA changes as needed
Develop communication for UTA and/or Core payroll related changes and coordinate with the Training Team to develop user training of updates
Reporting expert-set up maintain automatic report processing to needed HQ and Field parties
Assist with internal and/or external audits
Additional projects or requests as assigned
QUE-SO…here’s what you’ll need:
Experience processing payroll and optimizing procedures within the UltiPro payroll module
Time and Labor system experience, UTM/UTA preferred
At least 5 years’ experience a with a multi-state, multi-system structure
Operational Knowledge of Payroll Tax and Accounting, Workers Compensation, and wage attachments
Working knowledge of Federal and multi-state payroll laws, including labor law
SEC experience preferred but not required
Ability to work autonomously
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and advanced formulas and analysis
Testing and data validation skills
Ability to meet the physical requirements of daily tasks (Must be able to type for long periods of time, lift 15lbs, ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time, etc.)
