JOB TITLE: Purchasing Agent
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Purchasing Agent will purchase goods and services according to departmental and organizational policies and procedures.
JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts product research and source new suppliers and vendors.
- Evaluates vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history.
- Sources materials, goods, products, and services and negotiates the best of most cost-effective contracts and deals.
- Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
- Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price, while obtaining recommendations from suppliers.
- Secures approval from requisitioning department.
- Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipment errors with suppliers.
- Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation.
- Accomplishes purchasing and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
- Ensures that purchasing documents are complete and accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions.
- Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
- 1 - 2 years of job-related experience
- Bilingual English and Spanish
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
- Grat organizational skills
- Excellent negotiator
- Microsoft office knowledge
- Ability to work under pressure.
EDUCATION:
Minimum Formal Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
