    Touching Hearts at Home of Syracuse is seeking an entry level Human Resources Generalist to help us continue to recruit, retain and train the best companion caregivers possible. We are looking for an experienced Human Resources (HR) professional who has recruited hourly workers using digital tools, understands the interviewing process and has facilitated training sessions. This is an opportunity to do meaningful work in helping some of the most vulnerable people in our community – the elderly.

    Touching Hearts has been supporting older adults in the Syracuse area since 2017. Our mission is to empower older adults to age in place and avoid hospitalization.     Purpose:

    The HR Generalist will ensure Touching Hearts companions provide excellent care for seniors in Syracuse with a special focus on attracting and retaining the best caregivers to serve our client base.

    HR Generalist Key Responsibilities:

    Ensure proper staffing levels and recruitment of qualified caregivers including the performance of all hiring activities (phone screens, interviews, reference checks, orientation / training, processing documentation, post-training check ins).

    Develop and oversee HR programs/policies to attract, retain and motivate caregivers. This includes hosting hiring events, creating employee recognition/rewards, cultural enhancements, arranging training and coordinating employee events.

    Effectively recruit from digital platforms (Indeed, ZipRecruiter, Facebook, etc.) and build relationships with face-to-face recruiting sources like local colleges and universities, government authorities, and trade schools.

    Utilize Applicant Tracking System (ATS) for fully digital onboarding experience.

    Maintain knowledge of legal and regulatory compliance requirements related to day-to-day management of employees.

    Utilize employee data and industry research to analyze trends and metrics in developing solutions, programs and policies.

    Assist in identifying company policy violations and resolving performance issues.

    Effectively interface with Touching Hearts at Home office staff, clients and caregivers.

    HR Generalist Position Requirements:

    A successful candidate will have proven staff management skills and a blend of general business, interpersonal, and managerial skills. The candidate will also be passionate about working with seniors and experienced in providing or arranging their care.

    2 or more years of experience working in a Human Resources (HR) role. Preferably experience in a recruiting role hiring hourly workers.

    Associate’s Degree minimally required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred

    Comprehensive knowledge of local, state and federal employee relations, wage and hour and labor laws (including but not limited to OSHA, EEO, FMLA, etc.) to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations.

    Strong organizational and communications skills with ability to supervise employees.

    Experience working with the Microsoft Office Suite

    Experience working Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)

    Passion for helping seniors remain safe and in-place wherever they call home.

    Willingness to fill shifts as a caregiver personally when needed and serve as “on-call” caregiver.

    Willingness to take on additional responsibilities in other disciplines as needed.

    Valid driver’s license and reliable insured vehicle.
