Claims Compliance Specialist

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintain awareness of current regulations by state and communicate new regulations related to claim handling throughout the claims organization
Support internal audits and external audits related to internal controls, assessment and development of key compliance requirements
Assist with coordination of market conduct exams to ensure compliance with state Departments of Insurance
Maintain and ensure the compliance database is updated with any required documentation
Communicate changes in new law that impact claims handling
Reviews, analyzes and identifies the trends of legal, legislative and insurance industry changes on the state and federal level
Works closely with various departments in the areas of underwriting, claims, product management, sales, marketing, agent licensing and technology to ensure our products & services comply with state and federal laws
Review claim files to verify response promptness meets/exceeds statutory requirements
Assist with federal and state reporting
Assist with coordinating company responses to consumer complaints and maintaining company complaint logs.
Respond to Office of Insurance and Better Business Bureau complaints
Provide state compliance requirement expertise to THIG internal departments
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experience
5 years + of Property & Casualty insurance experience
Insurance Compliance, Market Conduct, Claims, Underwriting, Operations and/or Legal Experience
CPCU, ARC, MCM or other insurance designations or pursuing or willing to pursue insurance education and/or designations such as CPCU, ARC and/or MCM
Possess comprehensive knowledge of project management, continuous improvement methodologies and application
Possess the ability to negotiate in complex situations with both internal and external groups
Ability to strategically plan and implement changes as needed
Possess effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to present information to an audience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
