    IT SYSTEMS ENGINEER

     

     

    IT Systems Engineer is expected to be a system engineering professional with experience in complex operating systems and applications design, implementation, and technical evaluation.  Responsible for the engineering and operations of components of the infrastructure environment,  including but not limited to Windows and Linux Servers, Active Directory, Virtualization, Cloud, and various security technologies Ability to provide technical leadership of these solutions to team members.

     

     

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

     

     

    • Engage in and improve the whole life-cycle of systems and services from conception to inception, including: system design, build, and deployment
    • Define and implement standards and best practices related to: System Architecture, deployment, metrics, and operational tasks
    • Support services through activities such as monitoring availability, system health, and incident response in accordance with defined SLO and SLA
    • Improve system performance, application delivery and efficiency through automation, process refinement, post mortem reviews, and in-depth configuration analysis
    • Engage in Communications across all areas of the organization

     

     

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     

     

    • 10 or more years experience with distributed systems
    • Experience with service-oriented architectures
    • Experience with PowerShell
    • Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems internals and administration (e.g., file systems, system calls) and networking (e.g., TCP/IP, routing, network topologies).
    • Experience with Amazon Web Services Platform
    • Experience with Azure Platform
    • Experience with Hyper-V and VMWare
    • Experience with database technologies, specifically MSSQL
    • Experience with Enterprise Backup and Recovery products and services
    • Experience with Fiber Channel and iSCSI-based Storage Area Networks
    • Experience with Configuration and Patch Management Systems (SCCM, WSUS, Satellite)
    • Experience with Linux command-line shell and shell scripting
    • Ability to multitask and adapt quickly to changing priorities
    • Ability and willingness to work evenings / nights on occasion (Participate in on-call rotation)
    • Ability to lead and work in projects
    • Ability to communicate effectively (listening, presenting and questioning)
    • Positive team participation skills
    • Strong organizational, written and communication skills
    • BS degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience preferred.

    • You must have very good organizational skills that are sufficient to accomplish work by established deadlines; prioritize workloads and make adjustments to meet business needs.
    • You will be expected to obtain RRD DSE certification within 2 years.

    Weekends and holidays may be required.
