    Assistant Professor of Public Relations

     

    The Division of Mass Communication in the Collins College of Professional Studies at St. John’s University is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure track position as Assistant Professor of Public Relations, commencing September 1, 2022.

    Responsibilities

    This is a teaching focused position (9-12 credit hours per semester) with opportunities for research reductions. Research productivity is important, along with teaching excellence and a strong commitment to student engagement. The prospective candidate will likely have opportunities to teach in the Division’s graduate programs including International Communication (MS), Integrated Advertising Communication (MS), and Multi-Sector Communication (PhD), and as such must have relevant qualifications (see “Qualifications” below). Division faculty are expected to participate in academic advisement, student mentoring, and other student engagement activities as required by the Chair and/or Dean.

     

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in a relevant field, professional experience in public relations practice and active research agenda, ties to the professional community, and demonstrated teaching ability in a variety of public relations courses. Candidates must also display a consistent record of scholarship in public relations, big data, digital analytics, corporate communication, and social media strategies or a related field. The St. John’s University’s Public Relations program is one of 42 certified by the Public Relations Society of America, and we seek individuals with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, ongoing academic research, meaningful service, and visionary program building.

    • Must be able to read specifications and identify the correct parts for fulfilling customer orders.
    • Excellent knowledge of routine and non-routine packing procedures, techniques, equipment and basic warehouse procedures.
    • Must be comfortable with computers and email
    • Ability to communicate well via email and verbally to other departments
