    THE DEPARTMENT OF RHETORIC, COMMUNICATION & THEATRE IN ST. JOHN’S COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS AND SCIENCES

     

    The Department of Rhetoric, Communication & Theatre in St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at St. John’s University (New York) is seeking applicants for a one-year, full-time faculty position at the rank of Instructor to begin in Fall 2022.

    THE DEPARTMENT/DIVISION OF  RHETORIC, COMMUNICATION & THEATRE:

    As part of St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Department of Rhetoric, Communication & Theatre educates students on how humans use symbols, both verbal and nonverbal, to inform or persuade other individuals as they create meaning, form human relationships, and manage conflict in a variety of contexts, cultures, and environments. It allows students the opportunity to develop their communicative practices and communicative strategies in message analysis, production, and delivery that will help them to make more informed decisions in their professional, personal, and civic life.  Our experienced faculty pursues a teaching philosophy that helps students achieve personal fulfillment, civic engagement and career success. In addition to providing public speaking classes for hundreds of students every semester, the Department also offers a major in Communication Studies, minors in public address and several communication specialties, and a minor in Theatre.     DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Department of Rhetoric, Communication & Theatre at St. John’s University in Staten Island, New York, invites applications for a one-year instructor position to begin in August of 2022. The Successful candidate will teach multiple sections of Public Speaking with the possibility of teaching a course within area of expertise in the Spring of 2023.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Applicants must possess an MA at the time of the appointment though a Ph.D. is preferred.

  • Qualifications

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • College degree preferred, or demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements  

    • 5+ years procurement with experience working directly with manufacturers.  

    • Exemplary negotiation skills in a robust and large corporate procurement environment

    • Demonstrated ability to build strategic partnerships across multiple organizations and with suppliers at the highest levels

    • Project management experience required with ability to multi-task with high volume throughput

    • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and identify potential opportunities that align with procurement strategies.

    • Skillful in managing challenges and developing solutions that achieve the desired outcome

    • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with procurement software (SAP, Oracle)
