    POSITION SUMMARY:  The Community TASC Coordinator, OACE will assist the TASC administrator and other TASC staff in collecting, reviewing and entering program support materials as well as provide support for maintaining the OACE database for school-based and community programs.  In addition, the TASC Coordinator will support day-to-day community relations and data flow from school-based and community programs by assisting with analyzing data, identifying trends and patterns, and preparing reports and presentations. This work will also include corresponding with teachers, students and community members for feedback on the daily operations of the program and outreach plans.  Performs related work.

     

    REPORTS TO: Office of Adult and Continuing Education (OACE) TASC Administrator

     

    DIRECT REPORTS:  N/A

     

    KEY RELATIONSHIPS: School and program-based staff; Community Based Organizations (CBOs); partners; and students.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES 

     

    • Participate in the assessment of community recruitment and outreach activities.
    • Coordinate and administer TASC assessment as per NYSED and DOE-OACE guidelines. 
    • Perform operations tasks related to school based and community driven activities.
    • Provide feedback to OACE Central, principals, TASC regional point persons, and teachers relating to the demographic information and educational outcomes of students based on set goals for community enrichment. 
    • Prepare reports regarding activities related to student support and community outreach.
    • Flag questionable data for follow-up by appropriate regional staff. 
    • Confer with teachers, TASC regional point persons and field staff to resolve data issues regarding collection, enrollment and community support, as necessary. 
    • Provide students and community members with timely and clear assessment information.
    • Confer with fellow team members and supervisory staff to facilitate regional data flow.
    • Enter data for OACE school-based and community programs into the OACE database and the Adult Student Information System and Technical Systems (ASISTS), the Literacy Assistance Centers web-based data management system.

     

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

     

    MINIMUM

     

    1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
    2. High school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
    3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1"or "2"  However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

     

    PREFERRED

     

    • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
    • Passionate commitment to D79's mission.
    • Experience providing ongoing support to field/office staff relating to test administration and data management
    • Flexible, with a strong work ethic and willingness to accommodate a high level of responsibility with multiple priorities.
    • Detail-oriented.
    • Ability to work on a team and with students in an alternative setting.
    • Strong customer service orientation.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, to analyze student and community data.
    • Outstanding organizational skills and strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Internal candidates preferred.

     

    SALARY: $53,961+

    (Internal candidates who are selected for this position and who currently hold comparable or less senior positions within the DOE will not make less than their current salary.)

    TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

    1. In pursuit a Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related major.
    2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking.
    3. Proactive, self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
    4. Experience with MS Office applications – Excel, Access, Word.
