ASSISTANT DEAN - GRADUATE DIVISION

JOB DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Assistant Dean facilitates daily operations of the Graduate Division by providing excellent and efficient service to students in the areas of recruitment, admission, registration, and graduation. The Assistant Dean supports decision-making by providing data and analysis. In support of recruitment, the Assistant Dean reviews applications and ensures that applicants meet requirements for admission and supports all recruitment efforts for the Graduate Division. For graduation, the Assistant Dean compiles and verifies graduation lists for September, January, and May conferrals. The Assistant Dean also serves as University Events and Registrar liaison for graduate commencement activities. The Assistant Dean represents the Graduate Division at the Liberal Arts Faculty Council, Graduate Council, Registrar, and University Assessment Commencement meetings. The Assistant Dean manages Graduate Directors' Handbook, Microsoft Teams for the Graduate Division, internship handbooks, dissertation/thesis handbooks, and School Forms page updates to communicate policies and procedures for faculty and students. The Assistant Dean, as a member of the College's Marketing/Communication and Social Media team, develops and manages content on the St. John's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences web pages and social media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter, and lnstagram. The Assistant Dean also writes success stories and news items for the College and develops additional native content.

Required Skills Required Experience
Skill in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, aligning, testing, and maintaining complex equipment and machinery.
Advanced knowledge of equipment and machine control modes in sufficient depth to trace symptoms of equipment malfunction and distinguish mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic failures from those which are electrical or electronic.
Ability to make precise adjustments for alignment, parallelism, due to the continuing effects of malfunctions throughout the entire machine or equipment.
Ability to perform precise measurements of air and fluid pressure and flow, and knowledge of the mechanisms used to convert such readings into measurable units.
Ability to interpret complex multi view drawings, sketches, wiring diagrams, manufacturers' specifications, and other technical material to isolate malfunctions in such devices as hydraulic pumps and motors, mechanical clamping devices, and electric or hydraulic axis drive and positioning systems.
Advanced knowledge of construction and assembly techniques and the ability to manufacture replacement parts with complex configurations or assemble unique devices with unusual angular relationships.
Knowledge of geometry, shop mathematics, and handbook formulas to provide for surfaces with interrelated dimensions and to calculate angles, clearances, fits, pressure, flow, and other parameters of interest.
Job requires ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 7:00 PM TO 7:00 AM SHIFT; MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY OR THURSDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY; ALTERNATING ON AN EIGHT WEEK ROTATION.
Education: Associates degree or trade school certificate in a related discipline preferred.
Computer literacy required.
Ability to operate a cutting torch or welding equipment preferred.
Ability to work in a team environment required.
Demonstrates a strong attention to detail.
Ability to read blueprints and fabricate parts to exact specifications.
Ability to operate CNC milling machines and CNC plasma cutting equipment referred.
Experience in printing industry required.
