    ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF CAMPUS ACTIVITIES 

     

     

    PRIMARY FUNCTION: Reporting to the Director of Campus Activities, the Assistant Director will be primarily responsible for the coordination and execution of campus-wide activities, advising student organizations, and events and programs with a specific focus on evenings and weekends. The assistant director will develop a comprehensive menu of programs and activities based on strategic planning and assessment, available and negotiated resources, as well as the Mission of the University and the Division of Student Affairs. S/he will represent the office on various division-wide committees relating to the Strategic Priorities. The assistant director will work with students, staff and faculty interested in creating inclusive, engaging, and lively programs geared toward student-centered activities that enhance campus life at St. John's University.

     

    Responsibilities:

     

    • Develop, plan, and execute programming for campus- wide student
    • Serve as the primary coordinator for Signature &Traditional events, including but not limited to New Student Orientation Welcome, Fall Fest, and Spring
    • Serve as primary coordinator and supervisor for the Campus Concierge operation and Experience New York ticket
    • Manage and execute departmental budget for Experience New York totaling nearly $55,000 for all
    • Develop, create, and execute the Java Johnnies Coffeehouse Series while coordinating with Resident Student Association to execute programs every Friday
    • Train, mentor, supervise and evaluate Campus Activities Graduate Assistant and Campus Concierge
    • Assist in the planning and implementation of the Student Organization Leadership Training, encompassing both the on-campus workshops and off-campus overnight retreats.
    • Collaborate with Campus Activities staff and external departments to plan and program large- scale evening and weekend events and activities, including the reservation for rooms, catering needs, and adequate staffing and room setup for
    • Serve as the on-site decision-maker and supervisor for
    • Advise student organizations, maintain CORE standards for
    • Serve on division wide strategic priority groups which enhance the University Strategic
    • Perform other duties as
    • The assistant director will be expected to work every Friday night during the academic

     

    Qualifications:

     

    • Bachelor's degree required; at least one year post-undergraduate experience preferred. Master
    • Event planning and student activities programming experience
    • Experience working with students in a college setting
    • Preference given to applicants with experience working with diverse populations
    • Computer skills including word processing, database, and spread sheet
    • Familiarity with social media applications in promoting programming and
    • Understanding of programmatic assessment and evaluation
