    TITLE: Associate Director for Operations and Administration, Center for Counseling and Consultation 

     

    DEPARTMENT: Center for Counseling and Consultation (CCC), Queen Campus 

     

    SUMMARY:  Under the direction of the Director of the Center for Counseling and Consultation (CCC), the Associate Director of Operations and Administration will assist the CCC Director in implementing strategic initiatives and the day-to-day operations of the CCC. The primary responsibilities of this role include:  

    • Scheduling staff and ensuring proper staffing levels for the CCC.  
    • Implementation of campus-wide mental health screening initiatives (e.g., Interactive Screening program, mental health screening programs.) 
    • Oversight and coordination of the St. John’s Helpline. 
    • Coordination of care with satellite offices across campus  
    • Management of external partners and vendors. 
    • Coordination with referral resources.  
    • Management of front desk and clinical intake procedures. 
    • Assist the CCC Director with budgeting and reports. 
    • Supervise Graduate Assistants.

      

     

    In collaboration with the Director and Associate Director of Clinical Services, The Associate Director of Operations and Administration will be responsible for updating the CCCs policy and procedures manual. In addition, this individual will oversee the University’s Health-Related Leave process.  Some evening and weekend hours will be required.   

     

    General duties include providing brief individual, and group psychotherapy; after-hours on-call coverage; assessment and evaluation; treatment planning; crisis intervention and management; psychological consultation to families, faculty, and staff; educational/preventative outreach to students, faculty, and staff; involvement with clinical supervision; and perform other duties as assigned.  Some evening and weekend hours will be required.     

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

    • Doctorate, Licensed Psychologist (must obtain a license in the State of New York within six (6) months of the date of hire).
    • Degree must be in Clinical or Counseling Psychology (Doctor of Psychology).
    • Experience: 5 to 10 years preferred 
    • Prior administrative experience in a clinical setting; preferably in Higher Education.
    • Strong clinical background in crisis intervention and multicultural counseling skills and experience working with diverse populations.
    • Strong diagnostic and therapeutic skills, particularly using short-term treatment models.
    • Experience in providing training and supervision to clinical fellows.
    • Experience in providing group counseling.
    • Experience in the use of electronic health records software.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:   

    • Day-to-day clinical operations of the CCC, including: (1) Scheduling staff and ensuring proper staffing levels for the CCC (2) Implementation of campus-wide mental health screening initiatives, (3) Oversight and coordination of the St. John’s Helpline, (4) Coordination of care with satellite offices (5) Management of external partners and vendors, (6) Management of front desk and clinical intake procedures) 
    • Provides culturally informed direct clinical services to students including individual and group psychotherapy, assessment, and triage, and crisis intervention.  Maintain clinical records according to professional legal and ethical standards. 
    • The implementation of the University Health-Related Leave policy requires reviewing of applications, gathering of the necessary documentation, follow-up with students and/or treatment providers for students requesting for Health-Related Leave and return from Health-Related Leave. 
    • Provides consultation, outreach programming, and committee work.  Maintains collaborative relationships with members of the university community.  Offers outreach programs including training and workshops and serves on designated committees. 
    • Due to the nature of the position, extra work and flexible hours including evenings and weekends may be needed during campus or department emergencies. 
    • Maintain psychologist licensure in the State of New York. 
    • Other duties as assigned by supervisors.

     

     

    _In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary range for this position is $110,000 - $120,000.  St. John’s University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.  _
