Job description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Tower Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications towers, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards. This role requires a strong understanding of various technologies including 5G.
Responsibilities
Climbs and performs installation and maintenance of telecommunications equipment on towers.
Troubleshoot and repair issues related to telecommunications systems.
Collaborate with field service teams to ensure timely project completion.
Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working at heights.
Assist in rigging operations for heavy equipment and materials.
Climbs and works on communications towers for the purpose of installing, replacing, and repairing antenna systems equipment; performs tower maintenance.
The basic use and care of hand tools and mechanical equipment.
Recognizes safety hazards and performing duties in a safe manner.
Maintains clean, orderly environment adhering to company policies and industry regulation/standard(s) (OSHA)
Knowledge of tower rigging
Performs tape drops.
Assists with testing procedures (sweeps, PIM, fiber testing etc.)
Performs GPS antenna alignment.
Proficient with installation of antennas, ground kits, RET systems, etc.
Qualifications
1 to 2 years of industry experience.
Strong telecommunication skills with a focus on field service operations.
Must be comfortable working at heights (100+) and in various weather conditions.
Ability to lift over 70 pounds.
Ability to operate trucks, trailers, and transport equipment
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Must be able to travel
Experience working with all major carriers (AT&T, Verizon, etc.)
Good reading and writing skills (English)
Basic computer skills.
Reliable transportation to and from our shop location.
Working knowledge of basic hand tools, mechanical equipment.
Current ComTrain or equivalent certification in Tower Climbing Safety and Rescue Certification required and willing to be trained as such.
ComTrain, OSHA10, RF Awareness Training, First AID/CPR trained.
