    POSITION DESCRIPTION:

    Town School is seeking a dynamic educator for a one-year elementary school teaching position in what is best described as a “one room schoolhouse.” This position has been designed as a support structure for our current faculty and staff. 

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB INCLUDE: 

    • Managing distance learning for a rotating group of up to 10 students, ranging from kindergarten through fifth grade 
    • Maintaining an engaging classroom environment that feels safe to all learners and promotes authentic and joyous learning 
    • Developing engaging content and projects for individual students and groups who will inevitably complete distance learning tasks before the end of the school day 
    • Providing opportunities for choice, real-world problem solving, creativity, and intellectual engagement
    • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students and parents

     

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS INCLUDE:

    The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of teaching and experience working with elementary age students. Candidates should demonstrate passion for working with Lower School students and be knowledgeable about this developmental stage of growth. The candidate should have a background in the area of social and emotional learning which is as important as academic curriculum. Cultural competency is an expectation of this candidate and the role  includes a commitment to supporting diversity and equity in our teaching practices and community at large.
